Newsletter - Galactic #001 July 2026

Welcome to our newsletter, I hope this is a quick, easy read keeping you updated with what is happening for Galactic Scientific

This is the first Galactic newsletter and that future editions will share updates, events, suppliers, services, and co-op news.

We are excited to share that Galactic Co-operative has launched our new website.

This is a brand new platform for Galactic, and it will continue to grow and evolve over time. We see the website as more than a digital front door. It is a place where customers, suppliers, co-op supporters, and the wider scientific community can better understand who we are, what we do, and how we can help.

Our shop page has already expanded, with more products now available online. We will continue adding suppliers, instruments, parts, consumables, and service-related offerings as the site develops.

We have also introduced a new supplier page, giving us a better way to showcase the businesses and brands we work with.

This will help customers see the range of equipment, products, and support Galactic can connect them with.

RACI WA: What’s New in Environmental Monitoring Instrumentation

Andrea and Ben Rolender recently represented Galactic at the RACI WA event, What’s New in Environmental Monitoring Instrumentation. Andrea delivered a well-received presentation on clean labs for better results, sparking plenty of interest and conversation, with people lining up to speak with Andrea and Ben during the break.

Andrea’s presentation highlighted that reliable results do not come from instrumentation alone. The laboratory environment itself plays a critical role. From thoughtful lab fitouts and HEPA-filtered positive pressure clean air, through to carefully managed water filtration, clean and secure gas supply using Peak gas generators, and anti-vibration considerations, every element contributes to better data, fewer interruptions, and stronger confidence in results.

Galactic can support laboratories in this full picture: helping customers plan, improve, supply, service, and maintain the systems that sit around the instrument, not just the instrument itself..

Applied Leadership and Governance Workshop for Co-operatives.

On Friday 19 June, Kate attended the Applied Leadership and Governance Workshop for Co-operatives, facilitated by Tim Mazzarol. The workshop was a valuable opportunity to explore co-operative leadership, governance, and the practical realities of building strong, member-led organisations.

A particular highlight was speaking with delegates from Malaysia, who recognised Galactic Co-operative from Tim’s use of Galactic as a case study. It was wonderful to hear their interest in our story and to realise that Galactic’s journey as a worker-owned co-operative in Western Australia is helping spark conversations beyond our own orbit.

The workshop was a reminder that co-operatives may operate in very different industries and countries, but we often share the same questions: how to govern well, how to keep members engaged, and how to build enterprises that are both commercially capable and values-led.

The website is still growing, so we would genuinely appreciate your feedback. If you notice anything that could be clearer, easier to find, or more useful, please let us know. Your suggestions will help us shape the site into something that serves our customers and community well.
